Hinata woke the next morning. She, expecting to see Lee's face as she woke, felt her heart sink as she opened her eyes. No Lee. No anyone. Just her and her gloomy, old room at the Hyuga Manor. She heaved a heavy sigh of frustration.
It had been the seventh day after her father's decision and he still hadn't 'slept' on it. It was saddening.
She sat up, rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, and threw the covers from her bed. As she stood, she noticed a strange feeling of slight, overwhelming illness wave over her body. She breathed in deeply and felt her lungs barely expand. The feeling was as if they were being slowly ripped apart.
"Huh." she contemplated. She rubbed her stomach, a strange craving of pancakes wafting around her. Again, she contemplated. She usually wasn't so hungry in the mornings. She shrugged it off and continued on her way to her bathroom.
She opened the door, turned on the light to reveal the sterile walls and machines that filled the room, and closed and locked the door behind her.
Hinata walked to the mirror, washing off her face and combing out her short, messy hair. She then walked, slowly, to the toilet and dropped her pants. As she sat there, her stomach now throbbing with pain, she noticed something peculiar.
'Hmm...'
Hinata thought, glancing down at her bare underwear.
'Wasn't I supposed to start my period a few days ago?'
She asked herself silently. She again, shrugged it off as hormones (as she was commonly late nearly every month) and stood. She walked slowly into the dark bedroom and sat down on her futon bed, covering herself back up, as she was cold and her stomach was hurting.
Minutes passed as the large fan that stood near her bedroom's door kept spinning and admitting white noise. And as those minutes passed, her stomach grew more pained. It soon became unbearable and she was in a cold sweat and clutching her stomach. It began to radiate, back up to her chest, like before.
"AHH!" She screamed. A knock was soon heard at her door. She sat up, her white eyes wide, one hand on her stomach and one clutching the blankets that covered her.
"Hinata-sama? Are you okay in there?" Neji's voice asked. Hinata stood quickly and wiped her sweating face off with her robe's sleeve as she picked it up and put it on.
"Uhh.. y-yes, niisan! I... I'm fine!" She replied as she quickly did her green robe around her waist.
"Then may I come in?" He continued. Hinata nodded. Though, realizing he could not see her nod from behind a closed door, she spoke, cutting the awkward tension around her.
"Oh! Y-yes, Neji-niisan!" She replied. Neji slowly opened the door and watched as his cousin clothed herself fully.
"It's a beautiful day out! And its becoming late in the morning! I was wondering whether or not you would like to wake up soon and walk in the gardens with me?" Neji explained with a smile, crossing the room and throwing open the curtains in order to let in the light of the blessed morning. Hinata sheilded her eyes from the light.
"Walk with you?" Hinata asked, bewildered by her usually violent cousin's currently comforting demeanor. His strange, almost bipolar, personality was slowly becoming common to Hinata. But this was more than she could handle.
"Yes! Just to walk! To catch up! I've been wondering what you've been up to! I've been happy to see you around the Hyuga compound lately! Instead of with... them..." Neji explained.
Happy? HAPPY?! WHY NEARLY EVERY TIME NEJI SAW THE HEIRESS, HE'D ATTACKED HER, ABUSED HER, SHOVED HER OFF, OR RAPED HER! HAPPY?! He had absolutely no right to talk like that. But Hinata, screaming at herself mentally, kept cool.
"I should be ready in a few minutes..." She stated finally. For the last few minutes of their conversation, she had ignored the throbbing pain radiating from deep in her abdominal region.
As Neji left, she brushed her teeth, dressed, made up her face in powder and walked out of her bedroom door.
Knowing he must have been waiting somewhere below, Hinata decided to sneak down the stairs as silently as possible, and sneak out the front gates to the compound. She had a more important matter to deal with than her possibly scheming cousin.
--------------------------------------------------------- Konoha Hospital
Hinata was on her was to get checked out. Her burning chest kept on burning and her throbbing stomach kept on throbbing. But what she was going to find out was to do nothing to help her pain.
"Sakura-chan?" She asked on her cell-phone as the other line picked up.
"Hinata-chan? Oh, hi! What's up?" Sakura piped.
"Well.. I.. uhh.. I was on my way to the hospital.. and I..... I felt really bad.. like I was afraid... and I was just wondering... would you meet me here to get checked in and stuff?" Hinata asked, refering to her strange and subtle fear of "getting checked out" at the doctor's. She neevr liked being poked and questioned. It made her feel so fearful. And what they usually found out was never anything to jump about, either. Pneumonia. Chicken Pox. Mono. You name it, Hinata's had to get "checked out" and had it! Now she was truely afraid; she'd never had symptoms like this!
"Well, sure... but why? Why are you at the Hospital? What's wrong?" Sakura asked from her line.
"Oh nothing.. I just want you to be here with me..." Hinata replied. So, soon after, Sakura met her friend in the parking lot of the Konoha Hospital and they entered.
Oh, the tears that streamed as they exited! Tears of pain and sorrow! Such painful tears that explained all! Tears that streamed down the faces of the girls. One girl, the young heiress, was cradling herself in her arms as Sakura cradled her friend. Then Sakura spoke:
"Hinata! I'm so sorry! If there's anything I can do to help, please tell me! But please... I must know.... who's the father?"
...to be continued
*Or it may be added onto later, so stay tuned! :3*
